Many of our clients at Advantage Vacation have been enjoying their Maui timeshares for quite a few years now and always share with us their favorite things to do in and around Lahaina. Since many of these clients own at Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and/or Marriott Maui Ocean Club, they are very familiar with the area and look forward to returning each year and doing the things they enjoy – visiting their favorite beach or discovering a new one, they love the Banyan Tree Park and many enjoy hiking the Coastal trail on a regular basis.

Lahaina, the former Hawaiian capital, was the center of the global whaling trade, and its Historic District is a National Historic Landmark. Following are some of the activities our clients have enjoyed. While this list doesn’t cover everything there is to do on the West side, it will give you a good place to start!
Kaanapali Beach
1 – Start by visiting one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui and in the world for that matter! North of the town of Lahaina you’ll find Kaanapali Beach at Mile Marker 14 where you can relax in the shade under the swaying palm trees or go snorkeling and view a variety of beautiful and colorful fish. Because of its location, its a great spot to take the kids!
2 – For an authentic Hawaiian luau make reservations at Old Lahaina Luau. Enjoy an evening of traditional Hawaiian cuisine, music, cultural dances and demonstrations. Guests appreciate the genuine reflection of Hawaii’s rich history while enjoying an ocean view and sunset.
3 – Visit Dan’s Greenhouse upstairs at 626 Front Street (across from the Banyan Tree) to view a wide variety of Hawaiian plants, exotic birds, and potbelly pigs.
Banyan Tree Park
4 – Kapalua Coastal Trail offers a 3.5 mile trail. Wear good shoes and enjoy the amazing views and great beaches. There are lots of interesting things to discover and explore along the way and most likely you’ll be treated to the typical trade wind weather which includes blazing sun, gusting wind, rain showers and of course, rainbows! Take a walk along the road from Napili Shores to a sidewalk, then continue on to the trail head.
5 – You can’t visit Lahaina without visiting the Banyan Tree – a real “must see”! It is the largest banyan tree in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Lahaina’s giant banyan tree is 60 feet high and 200 feet wide, filling most of the block that makes up Banyan Tree Park on Front Street, behind the Lahaina Harbor.
6 – Ulalena by Maui Theatre is a world-renowned Hawaiian theatre production dedicated to telling the story of Hawaii’s people. The critically acclaimed stage show outlines the islands’ creation, transformation and rebirth by integrating ancient Hawaiian history with state-of-the-art theater technology, and stunning music, chant, dance and acrobatics. An invaluable cultural experience and a must-do when visiting on Maui!
7 – Whalers Village Museum is an interesting and informative museum where you’ll view the history of the whaling industry and how it has evolved from a killing field to whale watching at its very best. There are displays and artifacts from whaling days were interesting and educational.
8 – The Pacific Whale Foundation has daily whale watch cruises from November to May. You do not want to miss the excitement of seeing these magnificent sea creatures up close. The cruises are approximately 2 hours and depart from the Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Store at 612 Front Street in Lahaina.
The Bay Course at Kapalua
9 – The golfers in the family will enjoy world-class golfing at the heart of Kaanapali Beach Resort which is home to the Senior PGA Tour EMC Kaanapali Classic and offers two courses, the Kai and the Royal. They’ll also enjoy the Plantation Course and the Bay Course at Kapalua Golf Club with the spectacular views of the ocean, neighboring Molokai’i and breaching whales.
10 – Cirque Polynesia Cirque is Hawaii’s one-and-only cirque show featuring modern-day performing arts ingeniously blending theatrical innovation and physical virtuosity. The 60-minute show features some of the world’s best cirque artists from Mongolia, Chile, Peru, Brazil, the West and East Coast and the beautiful State of Hawaii.
