Out of 33 honorees in Hawaii, the Wine Spectator August issue (hitting newsstands this week) reports that 20 Maui restaurants are being honored for their extraordinary wine lists and the majority are located in the Lahaina area! We are sure every Maui timeshare owner will want to check out the list to decide where they will be dining during their next Maui timeshare vacation!
The Wine Spectator’s program to recognize the world’s best wine lists began in 1981 and now features three award levels:
The Award of Excellence
Best of Award of Excellence
The Grand Award
Two Maui restaurants, Longhi’s Wailea and Nick’s Fishmarket were winners of the Best of Award of Excellence – a very elite distinction!
Following is a list of Lahaina restaurants which were honored for their extraordinary wine list:
Fleetwood’s on Front Street in Lahaina
Lahaina Grill on Lahainaluna Road
Longhi’s Lahaina on Front Street
Merriman’s Kapalua
Mala Ocean Tavern in Lahaina
Pacific’o in Lahaina
Pulehu, an Italian Grill at the Westin Kaanpali Ocean Resort Villas
The Banyan Tree at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua
Castaway Café at Maui Kaanapali Villa Resort
Gerard’s at The Plantation Inn
Honu Seafood & Pizza
While the Wine Spectator recognized more than 3,600 restaurants around the world this year, there were no Grand Award winners from Hawaii.
The August issue also includes a detailed analysis of wine list trends.
