Bill McCollum the Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against American Marketing group. Accusing the company of deceptive trade practices involving timeshare resales.
The suit alleges the company claims having a buyer for a customer’s timeshare, and even guaranteeing the owners a sale in 120 days. The owners were promised that if the property was not sold by them, money would be refunded.
Consumer complaints indicate that the company did not live up to what they said they would do and did not get any refunds.
The lawsuit is seeking a permanent injunction that prohibits the defendants from engaging in the timeshare resale business. In addition to that, the suit requests full restitution on behalf of the victims, civil penalties, and reimbursement of related fees.
They settled out of court for about $102,000.00
I just heard this evening from a man saying he was calling for American Marketing with the information that they have a buyer for our one timeshare in Florida. They called me saying that they got our phone number from the “bank” that handled our purchase. I insisted on them telling me a website and address where they can be checked out and they gave me an address of 4400 N. Port Parkway in Long Beach Gardens in Florida, 33410. They had a manager call me back and he said that they had recently had “trouble” with their website, but that I should check them out at thetimesharesmarket.com I believe that this one is very possibly the same company just changing names, location, phone, and website to defraud more victims out of money. I would like to know if these can be checked out and perhaps shut down. I have been scammed by companies and I am very upset that the reaction has been for me to file a report with the police (which I have done) but have been told that since I am in a different state from the company all I could expect was for them to file the report. I was told to contact the Federal Trade Commission, but was told that if they could not substantiate the scam artists have received “huge sums of money” (they said that that would be most likely the total of about a million dollars) they would just take the report. The Attorney General’s office says that it could take mulitple years to pass some law that would be able to get funds back to victims, but that it would probably not require any jail time. I KNOW that I was victimized a second time by a company that we had dealt with that not only fled with our money, but waited less than 9 months to illegally have funds withdrawn from our one account and found out that it was the same company only with a changed name and address. This puts them in the driver’s seat because they know that this kind of fraud will not be pursued because they just keep changing names and locations to avoid being checked out by the government officials that are supposed to be protecting us.
Hopefully you can check these guys out and see if they, like many others, are just planning to “pay” for their lawsuit by changing their name and scamming more people. The individual’s that called seemed very suspicious. Please, please, please check them out.

I WAS SUPPOST TO RECEIVE A CHECK FOR $1699.00 IN DECEMBER2009, BECA– USE THE DEAL FELL THROUGH. EVERYTIME I CALLED THE DATES WOULD CHANGE. NOW HERE IT IS THE LAST OF MARCH AND STILL NO MONEY. THESE PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE CHRISTIANS,I’M NOT PERFECT FAR FROM IT ,BUT I DO KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG ,AND I KNOW THIS GROUP IS NOTHING BUT LIARS AND JUST TAKE PEOPLE’S MONEY.ONE THING FOR SURE THERE WII BE A JUDGEMENT DAY.
