Several of our California timeshare owners asked us for information on new restaurants opening in the Palm Springs area. Cheri and I love exploring new restaurants and thought we’d enjoy researching this important subject and sharing it with you. In return, after our California timeshare owners have dined at one (or all) of these restaurants, we’d like to invite you to leave us a comment about your dining experience. Thankfully, now that the restaurant business is far more accessible, thanks to things like this restaurant accounting software, lots of new restaurants are popping up in this gorgeous area.
We’ll start with a restaurant many people are sure to remember:
New York Company Restaurant
The New York Company Restaurant was originally home to Banducci’s Bit of Italy located on the corner of South Palm Canyon and Morongo which was a favorite hangout of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin – back in the day! The new restaurant owner, Neil Castren is originally from New York and owned the New York Company Bar and Grill in Los Angeles for 13 years prior to opening this restaurant on September 20, 2013.
The restaurant’s tagline is “Where East Meets the West” and Castren explains that, “The decor for the most part has a New York theme with large photos hung on a black wall in the bar area, while the dining area is more formal with cranberry-colored walls and California-themed pictures. East meets West is carried through by having New York in the bar and a California theme in the dining area.”
The menu will have you picking up the phone to make reservations as soon as you check into your California timeshare! What’s on the menu? New Zealand Mussels, Octopus Carpaccio, Calamari Strips, Escargot and more for appetizers. Soups and Salads, Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Lamb Shank and more for meat options along with a variety of pastas and Seafood choices of salmon, sea bass or cioppino. Desserts to end on a sweet note include New York Cheesecake (of course!), Crème Brulee, Tiramisu, Cannolis and assorted ice creams and sorbets. They are open Sunday to Thursday from 5pm to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 11pm. You’re invited to join them for Happy Hour drink specials in the bar daily from 5pm to 7pm.
Sessions @ Hard Rock Hotel opened about eight weeks ago to rave reviews. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7am to 10pm daily. Breakfast starts the day with biscuits and gravy, egg white omelets or steak and eggs just to name a few of your choices! An extensive lunch menu offers everything from a calamari salad to a Cuban reuben, seared Ahi tuna or the Chef’s Creation of “Street Tacos”. Dinner can start with Bloody Mary Shooters of Oysters and then move on to a North East Chowder, Braised Beef Short Ribs and several other offerings and end with Tiramisu or a flight of house made sorbets. Be sure to check out their wine list too!

For something more casual and lots of fun for the entire family, check out Rockstar Burgers which opened in early 2013 and some say it’s the best burger ever! It’s a casual eatery with good food and good service. Be sure to try the fried pickles! They do not serve alcohol. They are open Monday thru Saturday from 9am to 6pm serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s a great place to take the kids and they also offer take-out and delivery service.
