Hello, my name is Syed Sarmad and I’m the Principal Broker for Advantage Vacation. Advantage Vacation is a licensed real estate company specializing timeshare resales of name brand properties all across the United States. We specialize in timeshare resales of Westin, Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton resales. Our offices are located in the Lahaina Cannery Mall in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
Today I would like to talk about the costs involved for a Marriott Destination Club resale purchaser. You can purchase these Destination Club points on the resale market and the benefits are exactly the same as if you bought from the Developer. There are some costs associated in addition to the purchase price that entitle you to the full benefits that are extended to a Destination Club Points owner.
Each 250 points is equal to one beneficial interest in the Destination Club Points program. Marriott charges an initiation fee of $500 per beneficial interest with a minimum of $3,000, plus a $300 initiation fee if you are not an existing Marriot points owner, there is a $95 right of first refusal fee and $25 Club transfer fee.
Because of the minimum $3,000 fee, it is very important to purchase the correct or the appropriate number of points that fits your vacationing lifestyle because each time you make a purchase on the resale market there will be a minimum of $3,000 in the initiation fee.
It would be wise to look at their directory and look at the resorts where you plan to travel, look at the number of points that you’ll need and make that purchase of the appropriate number of points you’ll need on the resale market.
Once again the benefits are exactly the same when you purchase on the resale market as if you purchased directly from the Developer.
I hope this information has been beneficial to you.
