With the announcement of the Marriott merger came the information that three customer loyalty programs will be linked for the use and convenience of the owners of Ritz-Carlton Rewards, Marriott Rewards and the Starwood Preferred Guest program.

The announcement includes the following information on how to link the three loyalty programs (reprinted and unedited as received):

“Now receive two new advantages: Elite Status Match and Points Transfer

Starting today, you can link your accounts to receive two additional advantages: Elite Status Match and Points Transfer. This allows you to unlock a world of new destinations and possibilities while we work to build one combined program.

When you link accounts or join Marriott Rewards, we’ll instantly match your SPG Gold membership with Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status or higher, depending on your membership in Marriott Rewards. During stays at Marriott Rewards-participating hotels, you’ll receive Rewards benefits, including room upgrades and a 25% bonus on base points.

Link accounts or join Marriott Rewards information:

Enjoy a world of possibilities by linking your SPG® and Marriott Rewards accounts.

  • If you’re an elite member of one program, you will be granted elite status in the other
  • You can transfer your points between the two programs to unlock new destinations and discover more possibilities than ever before.

Link accounts to transfer points between programs. Then discover brand-new redemption options and destinations, including the Bahamas, Budapest and more.

Nothing has changed with your Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express. Continue to enjoy the benefits you know and love.”
