Timeshare resort guests, timeshare owners, travelers and vacationers traveling to New York and other areas affected by Hurricane Sandy are advised to check directly with the timeshare resorts or hotels for the current status regarding possible closures caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Following is a partial listing of the status of some of the more popular hotels and timeshare properties in New York:

Marriott Vacation Club

Timeshare owners should call 1-800-845-4226 to receive current updates on the status of the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park and New York Marriott Downtown and the Courtyard by Marriott in Lower Manhattan which was closed due to lack of electricity.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts

As of today, two hotels that belong to Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ system remain closed. The W New York Downtown in Lower Manhattan was flooded but was fully and successfully evacuated.  The Le Parker Meridien was forced to evacuate guests after a construction crane on a neighboring skyscraper partially collapsed, posing a threat to pedestrians below.  The Westin Times Square was sold out due to occupancy by local families whose homes were flooded and/or  lost electricity.

Hilton Grand Vacations

For guests planning to visit the West 57th Street by Hilton Club, Hilton Grand Vacations is advising their guests:  “If you have a question about your reservation in light of current conditions, please call 1-800-932-4482 or 1-407-722-3141 for Owners and all others call central reservations at 1-972-770-6100 or 1-800-445-8667.”

The Hilton New York (1335 Avenue of the Americas) is open for business. Restaurants currently open near the hotel include: Carnegie Delicatessen & Restaurant, Old Castle Pub and Restaurant, Benash, Astro Diner, Premiere Deli, Olivieros Cafe, Rosy O Grady’s and Bistro Milano.

Bluegreen Timeshare

Bluegreen Timeshare reported that their guests and owners were able to stay in every resort except the Atlantic Palace which was evacuated Monday.

And in Ocean City, Maryland:

The Festiva Coconut Malorie resort in Ocean City, Maryland had just a few leaks to repair, no major damage and reopened on Tuesday at 12 noon.

A reminder, be sure to call the hotel or resort you have reservations at before you leave home just to confirm that they are open and ready for business.
