The information today is about the Marriott KoOlina Beach Club which is a Marriott timeshare resort located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
The KoOlina Beach Club is a beachfront resort located about 45 minutes from Waikiki. This Marriott timeshare resort has several swimming pools, Jacuzzis, a fitness center and spa, there are two restaurants and a provisions market. Nearby there is a 18 hole golf course, several other restaurants and shopping.

The Marriott KoOlina Beach Club has a timeshare program for two and three bedroom units which come in ocean view and mountain view categories. These units, as an owner, come with a lock-off option which gives you the ability to split your unit into two smaller units thereby giving you up to two weeks of vacation. For example, a two bedroom unit can be split into a one bedroom unit and a studio unit and the three bedroom unit can be split into a two bedroom unit and a studio.
The two bedroom units have two baths and can sleep up to 8 people. They are equipped with a full kitchen and washer/dryer in each unit. The living room has a sofa pullout, the master bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has a king bed and a sofa pullout.
The three bedroom units sleep up to 10 people, they have three baths, a full kitchen and washer/dryer in each unit. The living room has a sofa pullout, the master bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has two double beds and the third bedroom has a king bed and a sofa pullout and they all have private balconies.

If you elect to use the lock-off feature, the third bedroom in the three bedroom unit and the second bedroom in the two bedroom unit will have a kitchenette which consists of a microwave, a refrigerator and a kitchen sink and will also have a private entrance. As an owner you have the option of reserving the unit as either a lock-off unit or not a lock-off unit. Therefore, if you reserve it as a lock-off unit, that second bedroom or third bedroom will have a private entrance and a kitchenette in it.
There are two types of vacation ownership programs at the Marriott timeshare resort at KoOlina Beach Club. The first is called the Legacy Week program which is where you purchase an interest at the Marriott KoOlina Beach Club in either a two bedroom or three bedroom unit, ocean view or mountain view category. Marriott timeshare ownership entitles you to reserve a week at your home resort.
There are two seasons at this resort. The first is Platinum season which entitles you to make a reservation any week 1 through 50 or you can purchase Platinum Plus season in week 51 or week 52 at this Marriott timeshare resort. If you purchase week 51 or week 52 you have guaranteed weeks at your home resort for the week you own or you have the ability to reserve any week 1 – 50 at your resort.
As an owner, you can make a reservation up to 12 months in advance at your home resort. If you own more than one week at the KoOlina Beach Club or you own a Marriott timeshare at another Marriott Vacation Club resort, in other words you are a multiple week Marriott timeshare owner, you have the ability to make reservations up to 13 months in advance at your home resort, where you can book your weeks consecutively. Marriott allocates half the inventory for people who have the right to make reservations up to 13 months in advance. Again, you can utilize the lock-off feature and make reservations for up to two weeks of vacation if you would like to do so.
All exchanges are done through Interval International for external exchanges.
The second type of program is the Marriott Destination Club Points program which is a point based program which gives you a beneficial interest in a land trust consisting of all Marriott Vacation Club properties. Thus, it is not a resort specific form of ownership, rather it is an interest in a Club which is a points based program that entitles you to use your points at any Marriott Vacation Club property for any number of days, in any size unit, depending on the number of points you have and of course, depending upon the availability of the type of unit you are hoping to reserve.
You can also convert your week as a Destination Club Points program into the Marriott Reward Points program for Marriott hotels worldwide, car rentals, airline tickets, etc. Or you can make exchanges through Interval International using your Destination Club Points program.
What is the difference between purchasing a Marriott timeshare resale versus retail?
If you purchase a Legacy Week timeshare anytime after June 20, 2010 then you can still make your reservations up to 12 months in advance or 13 months in advance depending on the number of timeshares you have purchased on the resale market, you can book these units just like if you bought from the Developer. All exchanges are done through Interval International, including exchanges to other Marriott timeshare resorts.
If you purchased a resale prior to June 20, 2010 or have purchased directly from the Developer at any time, then you have the option of purchasing a membership into the Marriott Destination Club Points Program which will then entitle you to deposit your Legacy Week into the Destination Club Points Program so you can use the Destination Club Points benefits. In other words, use your Legacy Week timeshare you deposited into the Destination Club Points program and use it at other Marriott resort properties without going through Interval International. Or you can convert it into Marriott Reward Points or you can use your exchanges through Interval International.
If you purchased a Destination Club Points program on the resale market you get exactly the same benefits as if you bought directly from the Developer. In other words, as a Destination Club Points program purchaser you can use your timeshare at any Marriott Vacation Club property for any number of days, in any size unit, your check-in and check-out can be any day of the week or you can convert it into Marriott Reward Points or use it through Interval International.
One last thing about Legacy Weeks, when you make your reservations for your week as a Marriott timeshare owner at KoOlina Beach Club your check-in and check-out days are Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
