In our ongoing commitment to keeping timeshare owners in Hawaii up to date on issues and legislation affecting them and the timeshare industry as a whole, Advantage Vacation would like to share the news that Hawaii Senate bill SB2632 passed out of the Senate last week.

The bill was introduced into the Hawaii legislature by Senator Baker and is supported by ARDA-Hawaii and ARDA-ROC.  After passing out of the Senate, the bill passed thru its first committee, Tourism and International Affairs in the House of Representatives on Monday, March 12.

The bill was written to expedite the process of moving all timeshare interest into public records by automatically deregistering those that currently reside in Land Court.

The bill, SB 2632 would benefit timeshare owners by reducing the time and costs associated with not only the deregistration process, but also any future transfer of the interest, either from the purchase of a timeshare interest from a developer or a purchase of a timeshare on the resale market.

There is also an administrative benefit to this bill by making it easier for owners to transfer or sell their timeshare faster and with less paperwork.

Both ARDA-Hawaii and ARDA-ROC are actively supporting this bill as it benefits both the industry and the local timeshare owners in Hawaii.

The bill, SB 2632 will now move to the Water, Land and Ocean Resource Committee for consideration.  The Bill has no House companion at this time.
