The Headquarters Visitor Center of Halekala National Park re-opened as of 8:00am, March 17. Visitors are once again able to obtain park information and camping permits at this visitor center. Cabin and camping permits should be picked up before 3pm.

Haleakala National Park is open year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during severe weather closures. Visitors arriving at the park at a time when the entrance station is closed can pay the entrance fee at the automated fee machine using cash.

Visitor Center Hours:

Park Headquarters Visitor Center is located at 7,000 feet and is open from 8:00am to 3:45pm daily.

Haleakala Visitor Center is located at 9,740 feet and is open from sunrise to 3pm daily.

Kipahulu Visitor Center (coastal) is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm daily.

Additional information:

All restrooms are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except when the park is closed during severe weather events. Please check “park alerts” for information regarding closures.

The Park Headquarters Visitor Center and Kipahulu Visitor Center are open daily and year round subject to staff availability. All visitor centers have cultural and natural history exhibits.  Books, maps and posters are for sale by the Hawaii Pacific Parks Association. Naturalists are on duty during business hours to answer questions.
