Once called the “Mardis Gras of the Pacific” Halloween on Front Street Lahaina has not been held since 2007.

On Thursday, October 27, Hawaii News Now reported that Maui County can now move ahead with its plan to bring Halloween back to Front Street Lahaina when a judge ruled Thursday against a request for a temporary restraining order by a Native Hawaiian group and Kula resident Richard Dancil.

“We are pleased with the court’s decision to allow the County to have a safe Halloween in Lahaina,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa. “We would like to thank all of the businesses and community members who worked with us to make this a safe and fun, family-friendly event for everyone. Please join us in having a Happy Halloween.”

The Maui Information Guide reports that this is one of the largest celebrations and activities in Maui and expects attendance this year to exceed 35,000. If you plan to enjoy Halloween in Maui this year – the Lahaina Front Street is the place to be!
