Point at Poipu
The Diamond Resort of Point at Poipu which is located on Kauai, has been in the news due to a Water Intrusion Special Assessment. We just received some information, via the Point at Poipu Angry Owners page on Facebook and thought we would pass it along.
An owner at the resort recently posted the following:
“I just called to get an idea of what buildings might be out of service when we book for next year. According to the reservations dept, they said they’re working on building 4 now. January – June 2013 they are expecting to work on building 6, and starting in July 2013, they will work on building 2. This is all part of the conversation on Facebook that started with me asking if anyone had any hard facts regarding what’s going on at The Point.”
One person said “there was no sign of action as of this time. There are visible bits of damage here and there, but nothing on any kind of catastrophic scale which a $65M assessment might suggest” and added “Curious”.
In response to that posting, another owner commented “Most of the damage is not visible from the outside. The real problem is the rotting wooden frames behind the stucco that support the buildings.”
Another owner posted the following comments: “I see that this site has died down and not much to report. I thought it very interesting that I received a call from Poipu Point telling me that we owed for our fees and that our upcoming reservation for June 23rd would have to be cancelled if we didn’t come current on all fees. Funny that we did not have a vacation booked for June 23rd. In fact we were told that we could not make reservations before MF’s were paid anymore. I did have reservations at Kaanapali Beach Club for June 9th and also received a call that if we didn’t pay the Water Intrusion Fee that we would not be able to check in. We went to Cozumel, Mexico instead.”
