The 2,000 square foot hybrid ice skating rink – an environmentally sound alternative to real ice – will be constructed again this year on the outdoor Ocean Lawn and will be open November 28 to January 1, 2014 – just in time for the holiday season. The location offers magnificent views of the Pacific and humpback whales while ice skating in 80 degree weather in shorts and a t-shirt – imagine!
The rink comfortably accommodates up to 25 people. The rink’s surface is made with a synthetic polymer and finished with a natural glide for a real ice feel, allowing the use of ice skates. This is an environmentally sound alternative to real ice because it doesn’t need refrigeration units, generators or electricity.
The skating rink is open to hotel guests as well as non-guests and will be open daily through January 1, 2014 during the following hours: Monday through Friday 4:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday and Sunday 1:00pm to 9:00pm.
Skate rentals are for a time period of 20 minutes maximum for $15 per person or there is a day rate of $75 per person which is subject to availability based on the rink capacity at any given time. The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort skating rink is also available for group events and private parties at special event rates.
