It promises to be a great winter for watching whales on Maui according to the Pacific Whale Foundation. The season began just after Thanksgiving and the Foundation reports daily sightings of these magnificent sea creatures. You can even check out their Daily Whale Sightings Log. They have recorded sightings of humpback whales and spinner dolphins already this year between Lanai and Lahaina.
As a way to get people out to see the whales as often as they want, The Pacific Whale Foundation is offering an economical Whale Pass, that if purchased before December 31 will allow you to watch the whales for as little as $10.40 per trip.
The Whale Pass is designed in levels that let the guest choose how many trips they want to take anywhere from 10 to 50 trips on the regular whale watches.
Pricing for a Standard Pass begins at 10 trips for $262. If you would like to become a member, the member price for 10 trips would be $210.
This year they are also offering a new Freedom Pass that gives guests the opportunity to enjoy 10 whale watches on their new raft called Ocean Freedom.
Both the Whales Pass and Freedom pass can be used for watching whales trips through May 15, 2012.
Check out their website for information on regular and member pricing along with times of tours at Pacific Whale Foundation.
Cynthia Mayer, Chief Operating Officer of the Pacific Whale Foundation Eco-Adventures says “it pays to be a Pacific Whale Foundation Member. As a Member, you’ll enjoy the lowest prices on the Whale Pass. They’re 20% lower than our Regular Pass. All of the current prices will be increasing on January 1. These low early season prices won’t be available again until next summer.” To take advantage of the discounted rates, be sure to purchase your Whale Pass before December 31.
A seasonal reminder: The whale watching passes make excellent holiday gifts for the whale watching enthusiasts in your life!
You may call the Pacific Whale Foundation direct for any questions you have regarding the use of the passes.
If you are planning your family vacation on Maui this winter and it includes whale watching, then you might want to consider contacting the Pacific Whale Foundation and becoming a member. Maui has many unique activities to offer to its visitors and guests year round. At this time of the year and for the next several months, whale watching should be on the top of everyone’s list!
