Hawaii Governor’s Sixth Emergency Proclamation continues to strongly discourage non-essential travel to West Maui through October 17, 2023 and the Hawaii Tourism Authority, in alignment with Governor Green, urges visitors to refrain from going to West Maui (including, Lahaina, Napili, Ka’anapali, and Kapalua).
Maui continues in its efforts to recover after the devastating wildfires that destroyed Lahaina and surrounding . Unfortunately, several hundred of our associates have lost their homes, loved ones, and memories in the fires. With limited staffing, we are trying to, among other more pressing items, provide security to the property, restore stability of the resort, and more.
In addition to the impact on our associates, these wildfires have affected the West Maui area around the resort. Many local businesses are not operating, resulting in limited, or no, access to places such as fuel stations, restaurants, golf courses, and grocery stores. A curfew remains in place in West Maui from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in those areas designated by Maui Police Department checkpoints. While power has been restored to the resort, this might only be temporary, and power could go out at any time due to the current unstable infrastructure. The resort has been affected by periodic loss of power, and those on Maui are being advised to limit non-essential usage of electricity. Due to weather conditions, there continues be the potential for new wildfires, as evidenced most recently on Aug. 26 when a brush fire near Lahaina Maui authorities to evacuate a neighborhood. We understand that Maui is a special place for our Owners and guests. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time, as we support our associates’ focus on recovering their lives and community. Further updates on the resort’s operating status will be provided on this page.
