We spent the weekend at The Donatello or Club Donatello as some people know it. It is near Union Square and walking distance to public transportation and the famous San Franciso Trolley cars. The timeshare rooms are hotel rooms however they are very well appointed and very comfortable. I have always enjoyed staying at The Donatello. In fact The St. Francis and The Donatello are my favorite places to stay in Union Square.
San Francisco is such a great city with so much to offer. We never have enough time to do all the things we want to do when we are there. There are many restaurants in the city to choose from. This time we tried some less expensive restaurants and found some really good ones. One night we went to The Crab Shack. It was really good and fairly inexspensive. I would go there again for sure. Another place we always go to is Burma Superstar on Clement. This place is great and you may have to wait in line to get in but well worth it. Another really fun and yummy place close to Burma Superstar is The Stinking Rose. If you are in San Fran and happen to be in this area check it out.
One of our favorite places or not to miss restaurants is The Slanted Door. I love this place! It is located at The Ferry Building along with many other great places to eat and shop. On Saturdays they have a very big Farmers Market. I think I heard it is one of the largest in CA. I always go to the Ferry Building to buy my spices. You can always find unusual and very fresh spices there. When we are staying in Union Square it is fun to take the F Bus to The Ferry Building. They are these amazing old buses that run on tracks from Italy. It costs about $2.00 and it is so much fun to ride them and get some local flavor. AND San Francisco has a lot of local flavor! You can pick up this bus if you are staying in Union Square by the Trolley Car starting point in Union Square. The Bart is also there. We took the Bart from Oakland airport to Union Square. That was another adventure for me.
One could spend a lifetime in San Francisco and not see all that this city has to offer. I am always exhausted and full when I leave. We went to Union Square while we were there to visit all the artists booths. The Square is full of artists most days and free entertainment.
The adventure continues.
