October 1 – October 31
Come join the fun of Oktoberfest at Balboa Bay Resort! If you can’t make it to Munich this October, you’re invited to celebrate Oktoberfest all month long at Balboa Bay Resort. Join them for authentic and genuine German-inspired menus featuring such delights as Wienerschnitzel, Sauerbraten, Bavarian Bratwurst and warm Apple Strudel for lunch and dinner in the First Cabin Restaurant and Duke’s Place. A large variety of Oktoberfest beers will also be available to provide the perfect accompaniment and complete a bona fide Oktoberfest experience without having to travel to Germany!
Thursday, October 3
6:30 – 10:00pm at the Orange County Museum of Art – 16 Acres, directed by Richard Hankin is a 92 minute documentary about the rebuilding of ground zero. Now in its ninth season celebrating the cinematic works and of emerging and established independent filmmakers, OCMA and the Newport Beach Film Festival present the 2013 Cinema Orange film series. A food truck will be on site from 6:30-8:30 pm with an 8pm film screening on the patio (as weather permits).

The Lido Village Artisan Market takes place in conjunction with the Newport Beach Farmers’ Market every Sunday from 9am – 2pm. Sunday, October 6 – 52nd Annual Sandcastle Contest

Big Corona State Beach from 11am – 4:30pm – Bring your team to the 52nd Annual Sandcastle Contest and have a chance to be recognized, win cash prizes and have a great day at the beach!
This long-running event is presented by the Commodores Club of Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and attracts thousands of spectator and contest participants ranging from seasoned professionals to first-timers. Saturday, October 19 – 1:00pm – 4:00pm and Sunday, October 20 – 10:00am – 4:00pm
Chrysanthemum Show at Sherman Library and Gardens in Corona del Mar. Hundreds of mums will be on display and will include single stem mums, container grown mums, baskets of mums, mums grown in a bonsai style, cascades and trees. The flowers will be judged by certified national judges. Both single stem and container grown mums will be on sale.

Balboa Fun Zone
One of the most well known Newport Beach attractions is The Balboa Fun Zone featuring a Ferris wheel, arcade games, and ExplorOcean. The Fun Zone offers family fun for everyone of all ages to enjoy!
The Balboa pier and Newport pier are popular year round attractions allowing visitors to walk high above the waves and of course, water activities like surfing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding and body surfing are also popular year round.
The newest water attraction is Jetpack America, which allows people to fly and hover high in the air with the world’s first water-powered jetpack. Come fly the world’s first water-powered jetpack with Jetlev Southwest! Flight sessions consist of a safety video, equipment briefing and 15-25 minutes of flight time, with most first-time pilots flying in their first 5 minutes.
Segway riders
Newport Beach is also an active community of walkers, runners, cyclists, and even Segway riders. It’s possible to take a Segway tour and enjoy fantastic views and fresh ocean air as you visit various points of interest with a guided tour around Newport Beach and Balboa Peninsula. Popular tours include the 1.5-hour Balboa Peninsula Tour and the 2.5-hour Newport Pier Tour.
