Following are some tips on how to save money while enjoying your Maui timeshare vacation!

1. Of course, the first and best way to save money on a Maui vacation is by purchasing a Maui timeshare.  Purchasing a Maui timeshare resale saves you money on all your future Maui vacations in a number of ways:

* Maui timeshare accommodations have fully equipped kitchens which will save you a bundle as opposed to eating all your meals out.

* A luxurious Maui timeshare resale offers a wonderful alternative to a typical hotel stay. You and your family will be enjoying spacious accommodations encouraging quality family time together and on site amenities that may include swimming pools, tennis courts, game rooms, fitness centers, access to golf courses and even restaurants on site.

* With a Maui timeshare, you’ll know exactly how much you will be spending on your accommodations each year and not be subjected to the soaring costs of hotel rooms.

2. Take advantage of the many “free” and low cost activities that Maui has to offer for the entire family to enjoy:

* Costco offers discounts on a variety of activities like snorkel trips, luaus, spas and dinners – be sure to check it out when you arrive on island!  Many of our Maui timeshare owners stop at Costco on the way to their timeshares to pick up food items, wine and discount coupons to enjoy while on vacation.

* Spend the day on the beach with a picnic and snorkeling – all the beaches in Hawaii are public beaches and you’ll find each is uniquely different and beautiful.  Maui timeshare owners on the West side enjoy easy access to Kaanapali Beach which is very popular with all visitors and consistently voted one of the best beaches in the world.

* The road to Hana is an adventure not to be missed!  It’s an all day trip, so if you are driving yourself, plan on leaving early and pack a picnic lunch.  FYI – the Hana Road has 617 curves and 56 one lane bridges and you have to come back the same way you drove in.  Be sure to take either an audio guide or guide book with you so you will know where to stop and what to see along the way – or you are sure to miss most of the best sights!

* If you are enjoying your Maui timeshare during December to April you can enjoy whale watching from the shore.  The cliffs along Pali (the winding road between Lahaina and Wailea) has a few pull offs with great views from high above the water or you can set up along any one of the beaches.  Be sure to bring chairs and binoculars.

* Sunrise at the peak of Haleakala Crater is well worth getting up early to witness!  Depending on where you are staying, it may take a couple hours to get to the top so plan to leave very early.  It also gets chilly at the top, so be sure to bring plenty of clothes to layer.  There is a minimal fee to enter the park.

* Sunset on the south or west side of Maui is an event in itself and Maui timeshare owners say the sunsets are always a highlight of their vacations.  Find a good spot on the beach about an hour before sunset, bring something to drink, snacks and chairs and sit back and be prepared to be awed by the most magnificent colors you’ll ever see anywhere!

3. Check out restaurant special deals:

Look for “happy hour” specials, lunch specials, kids eat free and some of the lesser known, local and smaller spots that the locals enjoy.

4.  Souvenirs that have value and won’t cost you an arm and a leg:

Seems like everywhere you look on Maui there are souvenirs for sale and if you happen to be at the Shops of Wailea it can cost you a pretty penny!  Check out local craft fairs and think about packages of macadamia nuts, local coffee and chocolates as gifts for the folks back home.

5. Help reduce waste:

Instead of doing bulk shopping at Costco and having barrels of ketchup and mustard left over (and who do you give it to when you leave?) stop in a regular grocery store for the items most likely not to be totally consumed.  Costco could save you money on sodas, wine, etc. that will be consumed but shop wisely and help reduce waste.

6. Save on booking events and activities:

Yes, you’re on vacation and you want to see and do it all, but don’t overdo it and think before you book two separate activities on the same day. Don’t even think about booking a second activity on the same day you plan to drive to Hana!  One paid for activity or event and enjoying a sunset the same day is more than enough.  A picnic and snorkeling on the beach could be the perfect day.

7. A visit to Maui’s Winery at Ulupalakua Ranch is a must:

Breathtaking Drive

On the road to Ulupalakua.

The scenic drive up the slopes of dormant Haleakala Volcano to Ulupalakua is all part of the experience of this historic area. Visitors are invited to take a walking tour of the beautiful grounds and learn about the wine making process and how some of the original lava-rock buildings are now being used as wine making facilities. In the springtime, stunning jacaranda trees add purple blossoms to the postcard setting.

8. Visit Iao Valley State Park located in the center of the West Maui Mountains near Wailuku:

Here you can see the natural beauty of Maui up close. There are walking trails and stairs up one of the central hills, and down to the stream at the valley floor. The highlight of the park is the 2250-foot-tall Iao Needle, a rock formation that is really the vertical edge of an eroded ridge.

Maui is truly a magical island with an endless variety of activities and events to enjoy that won’t break the bank!  We hope these tips will help make your Maui vacation one to be remembered for years to come!
