Syed and I spent this past weekend at The Cannery Mall in Lahaina.

The Mall was having The Keiki Hula Festival and we, Advantage Vacation, were having a drawing at Maui Showcase Properties for a $100 Gift Certificate to Kimo’s in Lahaina.  The Winner was drawn Sunday at 5:00pm and Randy from Oxnard was the winner.  Randy owns a timeshare at The Westin Ka anapali Ocean Resort Villas.

Saturday, we went to Star Noodles for lunch.  This is a treat for me since we live an hour from here and I don’t get to Maui’s Westside that often.  If you have not tried Star Noodles – it is a must when visiting Lahaina!  Star Noodles is located above Lahaina Farms in the industrial area.  My favorite is the Lahaina fried soup.  I will take a picture next time I go and post it.  On Sunday, we went to Mala’s for lunch.  Mala has a wonderful location on the water, just behind The Cannery Mall, where you can almost always see turtles from your table when you sit outside.  The food is good and offers a total Maui experience.

Ahhh, back to the Hula Festival.  When I was a little girl I grew up in IL and my mother loved Hawaiian music and dance.  She had never been to the islands.  In fact, I don’t think she had traveled much in her life.  Mom sent me to dancing school and loved to watch me dance.  Makes me smile just thinking about the memory.  My Mom passed many years ago.  The picture below is me when I was 15.

I love watching these kids dance, the musicians playing and the local families cheering them on.  It really is beautiful.

Next time you’re enjoying your timeshare vacation here on Maui, stop at The Cannery Mall and check out the free Hula Shows.  They are very good and certainly a local experience you will not get at one of the bigger tourist Luaus.

So, when you do come to The Cannery Mall, check out the Luau and please stop by our office located at Maui Showcase Properties to say “Aloha”.  We would like to share the Aloha spirit with you!
