Friday, September 20

9:00am – 2:00pm – A Taste of Old Kauai by The Waipa Foundation on the North Shore in Hanalei.  This combination of agri-tourism and eco-tourism takes you to the Waipa ahupuaa, one of 67 watersheds homesteaded by the first Polynesians. Guests are saturated in timeless beauty as they learn about Hawaii’s culture and food. Includes lunch, farm tour and fishpond tour. Reservations are required three days prior to event. 4:00pm – 6:00pm – Kauai (North Shore) at Hanalei Community Center – Traditional Slack Key Guitar and Ukulele concert was selected Best Slack key Music in Hawaii 2012.  Traditional Hawaiian slack key guitar and ukulele concert featuring songs and stories telling its history.  Free gift drawing.  Tickets are $20 ($15 for keiki and seniors).

Saturday, September 21

10:00am – 4pm – The public is invited to the Kauai Rice Festival & Spam Jamboree at the Rice Shopping Center on Rice Street in Lihue. The day features a Fried Rice Competition with celebrity chef Sam Choy on-hand as a guest judge, Kauai’s Longest Spam Musubi Contest, rice cooking demos, entertainment, exhibit booths, historic Lihue walking tours, food trucks selling their rice specialties, and much more. Admission is free and free parking is available at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.  Rice Shopping Center businesses will continue the festivities with evening specials after 4 p.m. The event is hosted by the Kauai Chamber of Commerce. 5:00pm – 9:00pm – Movie Night under the stars in Princeville at Prince Albert Park at 4334 Emmalani Drive. The free, family movie EPIC begins at dusk.  Bring your picnics, blankets and beach chairs. The movie will begin at dusk, approximately 5pm.  This event is sponsored by the Princeville Events Committee.

6pm – 10:30pm – NTBG 6th Annual Moonlight and Music in the Garden Kauai (South Shore) at McBryde Garden, National Tropical Botanical Garden, 4425 Lawai Rd, Koloa, Hawaii. Entertainment is provided by “The Blond Boys.” The ticket cost is $150 per person for unreserved seating and reserved tables are available. For tickets or information please call 808-332-6500.

Wednesday, September 25

Friday, September 27

6:00pm – 9:00pm – Kauai Aloha Festivals: Group Hula Competition takes place at the Kauai Beach Resort in Lihue.  The 29th annual Kauai Mokihana Festival celebrates the year of ear of Ola Pono Hawaii (Hawaiian Health).  The public is welcome and the event is free of charge.  Contact: Maka Herrod at the Maile Foundation for more information 808-651-1868.

Saturday, September 28

Come to Kokee and volunteer on Nat’l Public Lands Day. Work will be centered on Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow, and on the historic CCC Camp, with everything from forest gardening, grounds improvement to painting lined up.  They will provide bottled water in the field, and chili and rice for lunch.
