The West Maui Hospital Foundation announced on July 7, 2016 that the much-anticipated West Maui Hospital and Medical Center will break ground at an on-site public ceremony on Aug. 15 in Lahaina.
The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the site of the future medical campus at Kaka‘alaneo Drive, mauka of Honoapi‘ilani Highway.

The facility will include a 25-bed critical access hospital facility and a 24-hour emergency room.
In addition, the West Maui Hospital Medical Center will also include a 40-bed skilled nursing facility, a 40-unit assisted living facility and two medical office buildings. Future plans include a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.
The target date for the hospital’s opening which will bring medical care to the West Side of Maui is late 2018.
