As recently reported, Starwood Hotels is spinning off its 22 timeshare resorts into a separate and publicly traded company. In addition, the Starwood Vacation Ownership program is expected to benefit from additional Westin timeshares inventory. Starwood will transfer additional assets to the new company for timeshare development at the Mexican resorts of Westin Cancun, Westin Los Cabos and Westin Puerto Vallarta.

The spinoff of existing Starwood timeshares is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2015.

Starwood Vacation Owners will continue to enjoy their Westin timeshare resorts with current reservation guidelines and fees, exchange rules, reservation rights and exchange privileges through Starwood Vacation Network, Interval International and other current exchange options remaining the same. In addition, owners will continue to enjoy privileged access in the SPG Program.

While the transition to Westin timeshares takes place at Westin Cancun, Westin Los Cabos and Westin Puerto Vallarta, owners can continue to access the Westin Cancun and Westin Puerto Vallarta hotel properties through the SPG program.

NOTE: The Westin Los Cabos resort is closed until September 30, 2015 as a result of damage incurred from Hurricane Odile in September 2014. The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos will be undergoing a comprehensive restoration process of its guestrooms, public areas and restaurants and bars, and is expected to reopen on September 30, 2015.
