A recent article published by ARDA (American Resort Development Association) showed that the timeshare industry has enjoyed five consecutive years of sales growth.

The following information compares 2014 to 2013 as reported in the State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study 2015 prepared by ARDA:

Sales volume increased more than 4% to $7.9 billion

The number of intervals sold reached 397,000

Rental revenue was also up 4%

There are currently 1,555 timeshare resorts in the United States which represents about 198,490 units

The average maintenance fee rose by 4% – from an average of $845 in 2013 to $880 in 2014

The average resort size is 128 units

The average sales price was $20,020

Timeshare occupancy increased by two percent which is up to 78% (compared to 64 percent hotel occupancy rate)
